Staying safe on-line is important for all of us - children, adults, businesses and in fact, any and all computer users. There are many ways undesirables are trying to spoil your Internet experience be it by releasing viruses to corrupt your system, masquerading as something they are not to get you to part with money or at least your credit card details or to become your "friend". The latest rouse is a spoof telephone call to say you have a problem with your PC or laptop. They then keep you talking whilst they access your computer to see what data they can capture or plant false problems or viruses so you have to pay them to have them removed. An example is calls coming from "The Nerd Support" company or similar.
For more about their activities click here.
Facebook is also becoming a favoured way of distributing malicious computer programs or viruses. Be warned. Be alert. A seemingly innocent communication form a known friend can get you into trouble.
Fake Anti-Virus programs are too, becoming a real pain with some 21 going around at present (see below for a few example screens). Don't be tempted to download any of these products. If you already have then remove it as soon as you can or call me if you are having difficulties.
Don't panic over these threats, just be cautious, stay alert and take precautions.
